Public Transport

The Public Transport research deals with preferences among the users of public transportation and how these preferences vary between different groups and preconditions. The needs and preferences among older people and people with disabilities are examined within the Competence Centre - Traffic Environment for Older and Disabled People. Taking users’ preferences as starting point, the design of public transport systems are one area of the research. Another area is the development of methods for evaluating of measures in public transport systems, such as new information systems, changes of the route network, etc.

Database of public transport research
The database of public transport research aims at collecting results from projects on public transport financed by KFB.

Ongoing projects

Effects of regional train systems
The project deals with socioeconomic effects of regional train systems. One examined effect is value of estates. Other effects concern migration, commuter habits, education and employment. Train systems in the south of Sweden (Skåne) have been studied so far, but recently established train systems in the rest of Sweden will be under study as well.

Safety in bus traffic
The project aims at quantifying safety for bus rides to school focussing on the whole journey: to/from the bus stop, at the bus stop, and in the vehicle. Data of hospital reported accidents are collected from the STRADA database and data on exposure are collected from a travel survey.
