The research conducted at Transport and Roads focuses on the road user, transport modes and infrastructure - from planning to maintenance. Factors that affect society’s need for transportation are studied as well as how infrastructure should be adapted to road users’, citizens’ and societal requirements with respect to accessibility, safety, environment and economics.

The research conducted within Transport and Roads is largely empirical with a strong focus on problem-solving and measures, characterised by evaluation and the development of theory and models.

There are three main research areas within Transport and Roads: Transport Planning and Mobility; Traffic Safety and Behaviour; and Road Construction.
